For the final project for class my group and I put together a street report of trends we spotted while spending an afternoon in Washington Square Park. We mostly focused on young females, ages between 18 and 30. We found 7 major trends for this season and each is featured in the video. We also put ourselves in to just to bring some life and fun in the video too. Enjoy "Fall Frolic" from Kristen, Melissa, Rachael, and Miranda.

#10 Personal Choice
When thinking about what to post about this week I thought of different websites I visit on an almost daily basis. Before you get ahead of yourself, no its not Facebook but this website called Pinterest. Its somewhat like a blog or tumblr but at the same time completely different. The premise is very simple: you create a profile and set up a bunch on "pin boards" that usually have some sort of general theme. There are thousands of pictures on the site and anything you like, you can simply pin on your board. You also can follow different people's boards on their profile or just a few from them. Its really simple but seriously addicted.

One thing I love about it is you can pin about pretty much anything whether it be books, film/tv, events(most commonly weddings), quotes, home decor, places, and any type of fashion. I myself have boards dedicated to fashion, purses, jewlery, and shoes among many others. Plus you can add any notes on about your pins or boards. It is also a great way to start following different blogs and tumblrs. I follow a bunch of tumblrs because I noticed that I would pin numerous pins from the same blog. My friend told me about it back in August and I have been obsessed with it ever since and more than likely if you find anytime on it you will be too.

#9 New Show Formats
Fashion designers are always looking for new ways to catch the attention of the public. With the new advances in technology, designers are using different types of video projectors and 3-D technology to captivate the audience. Some designers opt not to use this technology but rather use different types of runways. My personal favorite new type of runway has to be the use of the carousel. Chanel used a carousel in their Fall 2008 RTW Show. Now while the carousel didn't actually move and the models didn't utilize it during the show, it certainly was an attention grabber.

Louis Vuitton recently took the carousel idea to a new level. For the Spring 2012 show, the carousel actually moved and the models had to make their way across without stumbling. Each model was seated on a horse on the carousel and when it came time for them to walk down the runway the hopped off and onto the actual runway. It was certainly an interesting new type of show especially since there were multiple models walking at the same time.
I love the use of the carousel and I hope more designers use different types of runways like this. It is gaining a lot of popularity among viewers(America's Next Top Model recently did a show using a carousel) and hopefully these new runaways will become a more prevalent trend among runway shows.

#8 Look Books
As if you couldn't tell from my earlier post about New York Fashion Week blogs, I am a huge fan of Marchesa! I think that Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig are absolutely brilliant. All of there clothes are breathtaking and even if some designs seem a little out there, I still can't get over the detail and intricacy of their designs. When looking up look books one of the first lines I went to Marchesa and I found a look book for their Fall 2011 collection. I love the simplicity of the basic background in all the photos to show off the detail in the clothes and I especially love the pictures that show dressers getting the models ready to be photographed. I also love that they show the dresses from all different angles to get a better look at the garment. I am in love with every piece of this collection and basically all clothes made by Marchesa.

All of these photos(and more!) came from http://bfanyc.com/home/event/808?page=1 which is the website for the photographer of these gorgeous clothes. Any lover of Marchesa should check it out.

#7 Trunk Shows
When thinking about trunk shows, I think most people(including myself) just think about clothing. However, after doing some youtube surfing I found a video of a trunk show for the shoe company, Manolo Blahnik. They were doing a trunk show in Boston hosted by Neiman Marcus and the Hello Stiletto Shoe Club of Boston back in 2008. Even though the video is about 3 1/2 years old, it's still great to watch these gorgeous shoes. Trunk shows are a great way to get the general public to see designer pieces and spread the word whether its a newer brand or an older one like Manolo Blahnik. Plus what girl doesn't love looking at shoes?

#6 Fashion Video
There are thousands of videos on the internet that have something to do with fashion. There are interviews with designers and models, fashion shows, ad campaigns, and much, much more. These videos are a way for people all over the world to be learn more about fashion and the people behind the fashion. One of my personal favorite videos having to do with fashion is a Lanvin ad campaign for Fall/Winter 2011/2012.

I love this video because of the fun and life it shows in the Lanvin line. Alber Elbas, the head designer for Lanvin, brings life to his clothes and makes people want to buy them. I think it is a great direction for Lanvin to go into by having fun videos of models dancing. It breathes new life into a fashion world that I always thought could be a little stuffy and boring. I think that this is just a great video that makes people more aware of Lanvin and makes them want to go out and buy the clothes.

#5 Fall 2012 Color Trend
When looking at different forecasting sites, I tried to find a color that I thought would something new and different for next fall. One color that Fashion Snoops had called Cobalt was one that I absolutely loved. The color is so rich and will surely brighten up any cold day. The color is just so striking that no matter what piece you wear in that color it will sure be a head turner. It could be used in day or evening dresses, casual or dressy tops, skirts, jeans, coats, or even some accessories like scarves. Since it can be used for so many garments, every woman can find a piece they love with this color.
